      Windows media player 11-Trojans

I just found a Trojan on my computer the last item downloaded was the above, it was downloaded automatically as an update see http://www.vnunet.com/articles/print/2126479

Luckily X soft spy picked this up but mcaffee did not, I also downloaded a free Trojan scanner to make sure I was clean ...so beware, I have rolled back to version 10 for now.

I downloaded this yesterday and also 3 movies from SKBB, but the trojan was found in media player, and I have only used this to view 3 video clips on BBC website?

No I haven,t watched the films, yet, I uninstalled skybb for films with a K cleaner and will reinstall again. I do believe they are compatible with media player with a plugin. Any where at least I have a clean mean machine again!

Motto stick with the old for a tad longer till they get their act together and eradicate the adaware etc.

Ive read that article and have done some research for work and this particular trojan affects any version of M$ WMP not just 11 but the player(s) itself are not the problem.

The trojan is embedded in a video file(s) and on playing the video in WMP it will install spyware, diallers and computer viruses etc, this trojan is rife on all the P2P networks so my recommendation is to ensure you virus / spyware check any downloaded video files before viewing them in WMP...

      Wmp 11

I have become a big fan of WMP11.
More controversially, I prefer the latest version
of the Explorer Browser to Firefox and Opera.

I do not use P2P sites but have recently downloaded video.
The sites include the BBC and others, but not from Sky.

I have just done a system scan with Nod32 anti virus software.
Also scanned with Ad-Aware and no trojans were found.
These stories are always a good reminder to scan your drives.

My Sky Max connection is fast and reliable...
