Smoking is only allowed on the starboard side in the open decks. A lot of the cruise ships today have similar restrictions. Personally I would prefer that the smokers were all placed in a small row boat....

I was just panning as he waived to the camera. He was busy setting some of the tables.

I didn't take too many pictures during the formal night. There were 8 people on our table and we were too busy chatting.

Yes they were my glasses. I need them for reading, the others for drinking so of course they were empty...

I'm in the process of going through all the pics taken on Lanzarote at the moment. One issue I am having to deal with is the fact the I took a lot of pictures through the coach windows. The windows were tinted, so too are the pictures.

Any how, here's one of the pictures I've tried to 'untint'. It shows some of the dramatic scenery on this otherwise desolate volcanic Island...

In each of those semi-circles of stones is a vine. The grapes are used to make the local wine.

You should be able to remove the tint by adjusting the levels in any photo editing software, e.g. Photoshop, Gimp etc. If the tint was blue, change the blue level of the photo.

This is in effect what I did. I used the white balance option on PSP X8 to correct things. I didn't quite get it perfect as there wasn't a lot of white to help get the actual colours spot on. Instead I've worked with what I could achieve.

In a couple of shots later on where I could get the white spot on, the rest of the images came out spot on. However each image required slightly different settings on the white balance so I couldn't easily transfer that knowledge back to the bulk of other images that I'd taken.

I resisted videoing through the window as I knew that it would be easier to correct the stills than the video. Yes the software I have can correct the videos, but this is something that takes a lot more practise than I have had so far.

For reference, here is what I started off with for the image above:

      She's back...-p1240672-small-.jpg

Another goal that I set myself was not to have those typical holiday photos. Sure that would have been a lot easier and quicker, but I really wanted to do something a little different.

      Here's another image I took:

      She's back...-p1240596-small-.jpg

Whilst that has been processed in a similar way to the other image, it wasn't taken from inside the coach so I didn't need to resolve the white balance first.

This one was processed a little different...

PSP X8 should allow you to adjust the levels (of each colour separately). Use the blue of the middle picture (from outside the coach) as a target for the "inside" pics and see if you can adjust that way. The first one or two may be fiddly to get right but after that you should get the hang of it easily.

Ok, I've managed to get the next episode uploaded now. It's a little different to the previous ones, which reflects the different location and what we did there.

I hope & trust that you all haven't legged it out the fire escape and are still interested.

      Thanks speedyrite.

They in no way show you everything. Just a sample.

Looking back the excursions all seem to be done in a little bit of a rush but they weren't. I saw them more as a little taster of each place.

Previously any holidays I've been on have tended to be to the one place, so this was quite different.
