As well as the router I use Zone Alarm and have in the past tried Kiero both of which I would recommend.

iv been using comodo for a couple of weeks now and boy is it confusing the pants off me what it does is lets out programes onto the net ok but then it starts poping up things about programes hijacking each other and when it asks wot u want it to do u say block or refuse and it stops the original programe working heres an example i let msn messenger access the internet but refused winamp as im on dial up and a bit tight with me bandwith 10 mins later it says winamp is trying to get onto the net via msn messenger will you allow i ticked no then msn logged off and i could not get msn back on the net it does it a lot with things trying to get out when uv blocked em through i e and firefox refuse and they stop working i didnt know programes could sneak out through other programes when there blocked

      Firewall

Any reason why you're not using McAfee firewall while it's free, or are you using both. What I'm getting at is, is McAfee any good.

I just don't see the need to be honest when I am happy with what I have got plus I am not that keen in installed it on my system.

I'm using Comodo and so far so good.

Its more tricky than Zone Alarm but if you've done port forwarding on your router its pretty similar.

From using it, as TheWiz said, lots of programs seem to use each other when accssing the net.

Just read carefully what it says and make your choice. Also try using something like WinPatrol to stop annoying programs running in the back ground and/or startup etc.

As for McAfee, its very heavy on system resources. My current setup of Comodo and AVG is 80/90 mb less.

Oh yeah and... a very BIG and... McAfee is soooooooooo annoying.. always beeping with updates and asking for reboots. Not just at a set time a day... anytime day or night lol.

I use Outpost Firewall Pro 4 and Nod32.

I have tried all kinds of firewall and AV programs and find these two to be the best both for speed and they use far less system resources than any others.

Some Advice.. Its always advisable to inform your old ISP as soon as you have migrated that you have moved.
