Re: LED or Plasma TV (upgrade)
The best piece of advice I can suggest is to visit the large shops, such as Currys, where they have the TVs on display. Sometime they have all three types next to each other so that you can see the differences more clearly.
LED & LCD screens used to be poor on anything larger than a 32" screen. However it has improved significantly since.
Personally I have a 40" LCD TV and am very happy with it, except for some fast action sequences. Since footie isn't my scene, this isn't too much of an issue. Again, mine is a couple of years old now and things have improved since then.
Other things to consider are Freeview HD tuner (not all have a HD Tuner built in).

Re: LED or Plasma TV (upgrade)
If you mean LED rather than LCD, then the LED is superior, provided you get a good brand. I would not consider 'own brands' like Asda or Tesco. Apart from the picture quality the running cost is about one third the cost of Plasma. LEDs due to their thinness generally have a slightly poorer sound quality than plasma sets which are fat by comparison. There is a good guide here which may help you make your mind up.

LED or Plasma TV (upgrade)
Just looked at 50inch Samsung LED TV for good price, noticed lot of the TVs in Curry's had 'last one' stickers on them. New models out next month so prices will drop.

id suggest a led tv because it uses less energy plasma no it is a good pic but it eats the juice power.

Re: LED or Plasma TV (upgrade)
We have a 50 inch plasma in the room and a 32 inch LCD in the bedroom. Now LCD has moved on I can't say there is much in it, the plasma has much better blacks bit that's about it.

Re: LED or Plasma TV (upgrade)
Lol the 32 inch LCD the bedroom was bought cos I got sick of everyone arguing that they wanted to watch the big telly. Just shows how times have changed though cos it was £100 cheaper than our first 28 inch crt tv bought in 2001 and that was an asda own brand!

Re: LED or Plasma TV (upgrade)
There isn't much that get cheaper these days but square inch for square inch TV screens certainly buck the trend.
