I'd prefer a long wait and getting though to someone who knows what they are talking about and knows how to do their job i.e. records notes on my account, unlike the last sky broadband tier 2 person I spoke to who couldn't even be bothered to do this and then cut me off as he had put me on hold for more than the allotted time (30 mins I believe) which cut me off, couldn't then be a*sed to call me back so I had to waste even more of my time explaining the whole issue YET AGAIN the second time I called to tier 1 who couldn't deal with my broadband issue and put me though to tier 2 meaning I had to explain everything YET AGAIN......so forgive me if I have no time for Sky call centres as so far you have shown me nothing but contempt which is the reason why I no longer call you and go via Exec offices now for any issues.

This is why multiple call centres like Sky fail as there's too many different services (TV, broadband and calls) all dealt with via the same call centre.

Re: Job Interview At Sky Tomorrow.

There needs to be a first line tech support in place. Most of the broadband calls, and I mean most, are down to end user fault. If you had a key press system to speak to someone higher straight away, everyone would likely press that. You'll then have staff who want to get their hands on bigger issues, yet are bombarded with calls that can be fixed easily by a more general department.

There are good and bad advisors in both tier 1 and CST. A lot seem to think you'll get through to a technical genius when you call to CST, which is not typically the case. They have procedures to run through, somewhat more freedom sure, but still are bound by steps. Some simply only know what to do in cases by using to flow guide provided. What's the point in giving someone a few extra systems and responsibility if they're going to simply abide by a flow guide and not think outside the box at all. In fact, in a lot of cases, tier 1 do most of the work. Dependant on the case, a few extra tests and then replacing a router or booking an engineer is not difficult whatsoever. You could simply train up more willing tier 1 to do the job fairly easily. My opinion anyway.

And from experience as working at tier 1 at one point, the morale is often indescribably low. You have small responsibility, not advised to think outside the flow guide, have very limited access to systems that'd actually help you to help customers first time and then you have to transfer a call to CST, in which sometimes you'll know exactly what needs done and the person you're transferring to is clearly just out of training and/or hasn't a clue. Believe me, there are some tier 1 out there that are great and if they were given more freedom, they'd be able to help you. It's a management problem for the most part.

Well. Just got off the phone with a nice lady at Sky recruitment.

      I've got the job

      I start sometime in February.

So if you get through to a slightly flapping Yorkshire man.
      Go easy on him.
      It's probably me

No problem. Glad you were successful and hope that the commute to Leeds isn't too stressful.
