      What next for Sky+HD?

BSkyB holds its AGM and Q1 FY13 results announcement on Thursday. The last two or three quarterly announcements have also been accompanied by various product announcements. Catch Up TV and Sky Hub have now launched, so what will be announced this time?

      • Sky Go Extra maybe?
      • NOW TV enhancements to include sports channels and/or entertainment channels?
      • New features for Sky+HD?

There are lots of rumours and hints to be found by searching around this forum and others!

But what new features or improvements to Sky products and services would SkyUser members (especially those who have *not* been involved in beta testing trials) like to see next?

Top of my wish list is "Shared Planner" functionality for Sky+HD - this idea was seen in some articles on tech websites back in 2009, but re-surfaced in March/April this year: http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/sky/4...tionality.html

So what's on your wish list?

I'd like a Freeview like backwards EPG so that you can go back a week, see which programmes are available to view for recording with catch up service and just record them. Also schedules for radio channels with the ability to highlight a show for reminding or recording would be great too.

I would just love to see Sky Go made available for all current mobile devices - rooted, jail-broken or otherwise. It is a wonderful service and those of us who like tinkering a bit (perfectly legally!) with the phones and tablets that have cost us a a lot of money have been made to feel like criminals - whilst Sky themselves have been made to look at best foolish and at worst totally ignorant of what's going on in the tech world.

How about a reduction in the price of the packages

How about an improved search facility? The current facility seems a bit limited - maximum 10 characters and title search only. Maybe add the facility to search by actor name, director name, genre and allow a longer input string.

How about a facility to copy recordings from the Sky+HD box via the home network to a device (tablet, mobile phone or computer) for "offline" watching away from home?

How about a facility to stream recordings from the Sky+HD box via the home network to a device (tablet, mobile phone or computer) for watching elsewhere within the home?

How about extending the Sky+ app to allow remote management of the Sky+HD box over the internet whilst away from home?

Adding an apostrophe to the character set.

That's cropped up a few times when searching, eg: a programme title starting with 'it's'.
You'll be presented with 100's of pages to scroll through, as you have to stop at 'it'.

The only reduction that is due imo is the loss of the HD subs.

Sky is not all that expenisive considering what you actually get, considering the amount of money they invest in content, rights to sports, films etc etc

An example of expensive, is going to the cinema, one adult and one child, just under 14 to watch one film. Then buying a nachos portion and a drink of Sprite, at 7.30 - Thats expensive, and only for 2.5 hours of entertainment.

I pay approx 60 per month, I have all the HD channels, Movies, Entertainment packs, 3 STBs (2 with multiroom) phone line, and free calls, and unlimited Broadband, all for about 2 per day. If I want Nachos, I can get them from Morrisons for 99p for a huge pack. So in reality, its good value for money.

And, I have the choice as to get Sky or not, just like I have the choice to get mugged at the cinema, occasionally.

You've got a good deal there newsreader.

Dropping the HD sub would be good. That's a tenner off my bill which would bring it down to around 70

On the EPG I would like to be able to list by channel names as well as channel numbers. I can't remember which number a particular channel is.
