There is a line in the letter that says:
"There has clearly also been a long standing widespread culture of inappropriate behaviour at the BBC"
Coming from any politician, Pot & Kettle spring to mind.

It is really sad and very appalling what has been happening.

When he started there was a culture of hiding such activity and pretending it doesn't happen.

Considering that things were meant have improved, I think this has sent shivers across the whole of the BBC and other broadcasters and hospitals, etc.

I wonder if such action would also be levied against many religious organisations who have also picked up such bad reputations? In the USA Millions of Dollars are being paid out n compensation.

Sad as this case is, I wonder how many are jumping on the bandwagon with this in mind.

It is setting a bad precedent in my opinion. Why wait till someone dies, then make accusations which cannot be answered? I wonder if any other big names who left a lot of money behind are going to be accused of inappropriate conduct?

Re: Oooo....bit of Politics, Sky related...

It can be a difficult choice to make, whether or not the person is still around or not.

Whether it be a home or a place of worship, the victim may have some positive memories of the place and may not want to damage it for others who are making use of the services now.

As adults we are supposed to be aware of such issues and to be there to protect children. Sadly this is not always possible. What I find upsetting regarding JS is that apparently some people did report the incidents to some adults, but they were ignored or told off for making up such stories.

I really do hope that the culture has changed across the whole of the UK and Ireland so that such accusations are correctly responded to, but also that they are dealt with in a manner so as not to cause harm to the person accused until the case has been proved. Sadly some teachers have been wrongly accused and their careers have been ruined. At the same time one teacher in particular has recently been very much in the public press over his activities with a 15 year old girl.

I do find it strange that the BBC are denying any knowledge or suspicions of Saville being a paedo or necrophilliac when I was aware of the rumours during the 70's and 80's and I have never worked for the BBC.

If I as a member of the public was aware of the rumours, how come the BBC was not?

      That's the thing though.

The BBC aren't denying having suspicions, but are denying having KNOWLEDGE.

It's the source of much of the hoo-ha.
