No problem here, plug and play.

I did have a problem with the first SS dropping out every three days but SS box was faulty.

      Re: Vodafone Sure Signal

The HTC sensation xe has a known flaw on not always going from cell to SS. All you do is enable airplane mode and then disable it. This forces the strongest signal. Whayou do need to remember is that you cannot be on a call when you leave the house. You cannot switch from SS to mobile mast while on a call. Have cut a few calls off that way!

It seems like the S2 has a similar problem, but didn't have before June this year when it worked fine. Apparently according to posters on the Vodafone forums it changed when a firmware update was pushed out to the SS boxes.

      Re: Vodafone Sure Signal

I use a Sure Signal (v1) and that performs faultlessly with a Samsung and Acer mobile. No problems with handover to the mobile network, it just works. It now allows me to have maximum signal strength whereas before I had 0 - 1 bars showing. It works equally well with Voice and Data. It's one of the best buys I've made. Highly recommended.

      Re: Vodafone Sure Signal

Just as a matter of interest. I assume you and "newbuilder" are on Sky broadband. Do you use a Sky supplied router or do you use your own. The reason I ask is that Vodafone Support are suggesting that Sky are using MER not PPOA, and that Sure Signal won't work with MER.

      Re: Vodafone Sure Signal

I think the MER issue with the SS is a red herring. The SS does not know what method is being used to authenticate any more than your PC does, it is just a part of your local network. Problems with Sky are probably down to the users IP address range not being registered with Vodaphone. Previously the addresses would be registered outside UK and would not be on Vodaphone's whitelist. In the past this has applied to 94 addresses and more recently the 2 ones.

      Re: Vodafone Sure Signal

I'm on a standard v1 router. I just plugged the SS in and left it a few minutes to register on the network. In the past 18 months or so I have only had to unplug the SS from the router once, when the SS appeared to have crashed - it reconnected in a few minutes and has worked fine ever since.

      Re: Vodafone Sure Signal

"users IP address range not being registered with Vodaphone." That probably explains why Vodaphone forum staff ask for the external ip address during fault finding.

One vodafone staff member suggested the problem with dropping connections could be down to the ISP going from PPOA to PPOE. The forums are full of so many complaints and very little resolution.

      edit: corrected.
