      Re: Support the Moderators

As the newest member on the Moderator team, thank you steelysteph.

I do wish that some people would research their facts first though. Several times I have posted a comment which hasn't been too favourable for Sky. For obvious reasons though I don't use bad language for any situation, although I have used asterisks in place of possible swear words.

As for being employed by Sky, if this were the case then my OT payments would be horrendous!

I trust that any others who think that Ged, Glenn, Red, Saturday, Tom, Hugsie, mikey4020 or Tezcatlipoca work for Sky will think again.

      Re: Support the Moderators

Its quite funny when people sign up just to have a rant without having checked their facts first, a simple Google would have showed that no-one gets charged for anything ppv until they start to watch them. It is also just as funny that people when they rant like this will have usually posted the same on other sites as well so they will be getting the message back in stereo.

I find it just as amusing that after all these years there are still people that for whatever reason can't read or don't bother to look at the logo at the top of the page.

One of the great thing about this forum is that Ged and Glenn fund it 100% themselves and any click thru ad revenue they get. They pay for all the equipment, servers, smpt email etc.

Other forums (including the one ran by a certain poster today) ask for donations to run the forum. A forum ran by donation does leave itself open to being ran by the funders.

Any donation to this site goes to charity. 100%. This is a truly independent forum and that's what makes it so great.

It's also unique that as a moderator team we ensure that fairness applies to both the consumer and the companies.

I joined about a month after the forum was launched and it has been nothing but an amazing success.

The most ironic thing is, having been to Sky Towers on numerous occasions, I wouldn't turn down the chance to work for them.

Sky seem to have a very good work ethos, you are allowed to work in normal clothes, everyone always looks happy, and everyone that I have ever spoken to, clearly loves their jobs.

How many companies could brag about that?

However, contrary to other's beliefs, not one person on the admin or moderating team works for Sky.

We made the decision years ago, that anyone known to work at Sky could never be a part of the moderating team for obvious reasons.

We do however, allow Sky to post on the forums in an official capacity, and they have a username and title that clearly shows they are official staff members.

And to further clarify, Sky always asked us beforehand if they were allowed to post on here in an official status.

      We have always made it clear to Sky, that they are welcome to post on here the following;

      • Sales messages
      • Product news
      • Price rises
      • Help individual customers
      • etc

We also made the decision years ago that we would not allow anybody to post company sensitive information on here, to help Sky protect their trade secrets etc which in my eyes is fair enough.

      Re: Support the Moderators

I haven't had much interaction yet but from what I have seen so far, would say I have found members/moderators to be very helpful

Having said that, even if I had never been here before I would still be inclined to dismiss outright some of the questionable comments/conclusions I've just read on another dodgy thread where someone was having a major vent

The OP's comments were easily addressed with actual facts. What I found odd was that another individual, who was a more established member, suggested bias...not sure how they could reach that conclusion as in my short time here, I have noticed that the Sky Broadband service gets very critical feedback

Nice to see most of the contributors here are sensible and give good advice

      Currently 9.

There are also several members who have been mods in the past, and perhaps they too should be given due credit for keeping this forum running as they have contributed much as well.
