the giro account is quite different from the payments account. for starters a giro account is only 7 digits.

i've had this problem before with united utilities (a MUCH larger company than sky), and they were more than happy to give me the requested account info over the phone.

i would appreciate people not chiming in if they don't know what they're talking about. i came here for help, not for mis-informed derision and idiocy. perhaps i should go ask somewhere else.
To be fair, it is not Sky's problem. If you had not gotten into arrears and paid on time by DD or Credit Card, then this issue would not have arisen.

But.. That is not the issue.

You say that every other company allows you to pay this way, why not get your friend or whoever to pay a couple of the other bills the way you intend and then use your funds to pay Sky by DD or Credit / Debit Card?

As for the other comments, then I would maybe stop being so insulting to those that are offering an opinion. You don't have to take their advice or accept it, but there is absolutely no point in being nasty.
~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~

      Off you go then.

PS I do know what I'm talking about, and it's not as simple as you are making out. (I don't work for Sky but know how corporate banking works)

you obviously seem to have your own idea as to how these things work. you've never encountered a situation like this before and you're completely ignorant as to the inner workings of sky's billing system. you cannot help me or anyone else -- thanks anyway buddy.

So are you, that's why you are in this mess. If Sky say they won't accept payment this way then that's that, you will have to find some other way of doing it that they do allow, they are not going to change their proceedure for you.

Totally agree. Sky have 10 million customers who pay by the methods Sky specify in their T&C when you take out a contract with them. One customer doesn't and complains that Sky are unreasonable.

this is what i'm currently attempting to do, however i do not know if it will work outside of the UK. it seems like a pretty long shot. i have to get the draft mailed back to me, and then personally turn it in afterwards if anything.

the law doesn't quite work that way. the point of this whole thread is that if you want some money, you have to facilitate some options. BY LAW. you go ahead and keep being a sheep shmitho.

@dms: one customer is all it takes. furthermore, the T&C's don't outline ANYTHING about account transfers.

i'm not quite sure why you people are so defensive of sky. it's suspicious if nothing else. i'll be taking my case to the consumer action group. thanks for nothing.

Which law would that be, exactly? Sky provide payment options, but you don't want to use one of them.

If it wasn't for the forum rules I would say something less than polite here. Instead, I'll just remember the wise words in NewsreadeR's sig. and bite my tongue.

If your discussions with Sky are at the level of your posts here I'm not surprised they aren't co-operating (even if they could, which I doubt for the reasons several people have already given). Accusing people that disagree with you of being secret agents for Sky is a tired and sad excuse. Usually the sign that someone has lost an argument and can't think of anything productive to say.

Good luck in getting your money to them. Have you tried the official Sky help forum?

May I suggest going to the police with this matter?

I'm not certain, but maybe what you're perceiving as defensiveness is just common sense? Also - maybe the CAG is the right place to take this complaint. They're actually paid to deal with people throwing their help back at them.

I hope you get your issue resolved.

Re: Sky Refusing to Accept BACS/Bank Transfer

Please can you quote the relevant law and sub-section to back up your statement.

Does the law actually state that they must provide any way to take payment. What about payment 'in kind'.

Looking forward to seeing this law.

Looks like you're agressive approach to the forum has lost you their support..... as another has said, if you talk to sky like this then no wonder they aren't being helpful.

Respect earns respect. Treat someone how you would like to be treated.

      Good luck.
