      In need of some electrical advice - polarity!

      I don't have a multimeter on me, and I need to know the polarity before I solder this. So if anyone with any electrical experience, give me a clue that would be great.





      It's a Size N Coaxil DC power plug. It's got three pins I assume one of which is for earth, not sure where the + or - would go though.

      You need to know whether the tip (centre) is meant to be positive or negative. It can be either.
      There is no p in Thomson.

      The centre tip is positive.

      You need a multimeter really! Assuming it is low voltage DC I would expect the outer metalwork to be negative. But be careful some of these type sockets can incorporate an internal switch which disconnects an internal battery or internal speaker connected to the third pin when the jack is pushed in like on a headphone socket, so if you earth it you might end up with a bang!
