As BT has announced the exchanges to be upgraded next year this sounds like they want to have a focus on the 2012+ exchanges and they currently don't have any major preferences so they will be collecting data over the next few months.

This is similar to how they went about the original exchange upgrade to ADSL, I remember spending many hours walking the streets posting leaflets to get people to sign up to upgrade our exchange.

In the end we did well, we were the second exchange in the UK upgraded due to popular demand I even had my picture in the local paper along with some of the other guys who campainged.

Maybe it would be easier if they just dusted off this original information, I doubt that much will have changed.

      Re: The Race To Infinity

although it does make me laugh that this only applies to BT, Virgin's network isn't included and BT gets to set the price of access.

And I do like the way they say that Talk Talk will be one of the first ISP's to offer fibre, IDnet and Zen already do, science and technology journalism is awful.

Anyways I reckon the real reason why the big ISP's haven't got any fibre products yet is cost and the fact that there isn't a simple home install option, BT has to come round set it up and give you a VDSL modem.
