Can anyone recommend a set of headphones, please.
Hi,
I'm looking to replace an old set of Sony headphones and am out of touch with what is available.
I want to use them principally for gaming (offline) and listening to various MP3s using winamp. I don't want in-ear and don't like closed-cup. I don't need a mike either. In the past I've liked Sennheiser but the Sonys were a gift.
I've heard that some headphones can imitate surround sound - are they any good?
Price? Well I ain't broke, but I'm not loaded either.
TIA.

I have the senhieser hd 595 which I got from play for 60.00 which was a steal at the time, grado are highly regarded as well.
The true surround sound headphones can be very very expensive at 200.00 + and do they work that good?
I would just stick to the normal ones if its for games and MP3, if you dont watch movies that much then not worth it imho.
you can try someout at currys ect, look at reviews, as hundreds cant be wrong.
maybe look on what hi-fi

Thanks for getting back to me. Actually, I decided to go for Sennheiser PX 100, which I got from Play.com. I've had them a couple of days and, at £24.99 and free delivery, I am very satisfied.

Re: Can anyone recommend a set of headphones, please.
Can i make a suggestion.
I have an Xbox 360 and have spent the past few weeks researching various headphones to get the best out of gameplay.
I have settled on the following :
AudioTechnica AD700's - £90
Astro Mixamp - £100
Boom Mic mod - £6 From the U.S.
The AD700's are open cup and are absolutely stunning. Coupled with the mixamp they produce pseudo dolby surround (as all headphones do from the Xbox360 - dont believe the hype about 5.1/7.1) and you can really tell where the noise is coming from. Left right, in front, behind and to a certain extent above and below.
I wouldnt change them for the World as i love them (i have tried the A40s, AD900's and TB X1's).
The only downside is that they arent bass heavy which is a good thing for gaming as you dont get your head rattled all the time (i play alot of MW2), but may no suit if you like drum and bass on your ipod.
There are other heaphones and heard good things about the 595's, but IMO the setup i have is perfect.
