In this day an age nothing really surprises me anymore. All you can draw from these 8 complaints is that they can't have ever watched Ashes to Ashes or Life on Mars otherwise they would know all about the character. Personally I think his line is great and the female that follows is just nice eye candy.

Re: political correctness gone mad?
If you think that is bad read this.
A mother who was fined for feeding the ducks with her young son in the park will not now have to pay the charge.
Vanessa Kelly was in Smethwick Hall Park, in Smethwick, West Midlands, when she was approached by a warden and given a £75 on-the-spot littering fine.
WTF is wrong with the people who run this country?
As for Marks and Spencers, that guy could have said a lot more offensive things. Just like when he did in Life on Mars. But still, I grew up when Life on Mars was modelled and so I agree, it is entirely realistic, so perhaps I should now be more politically correct. What a load of pants.
As AlanB says, I ain't complaining whatsoever at the eye candy. And if she found it offensive, then I am pretty sure she would have told M&S to shove it.Last edited by NewsreadeR; 19-11-09 at 01:07 AM.

I haven't seen the ad so can't comment on that but... 8 complaints out of God knows how may adults in the UK is hardly worth taking notice of. Surely there should be some minimum threshold before the ASA spend time looking into this stuff?

Considering the lovely lady doing the modelling is a French lingere model, what she is dancing about in is positivly clothes compared to what she normally would model.
Apparently there has also been complaints about Joanna Lumley calling Jennifer Saunders fat.
I think there are a lot of people who don't seem to get this very Tongue in Cheek adI'm a PC, and Windows 7 Backup saved my sanity when BitDefender imploded !!!

Re: political correctness gone mad?
'Tis probably only about six or seven people complaining. It also seems that in this country it's only the minority that gets heard.
I love Philip Glenister, I personally think he's a fantastic actor. They don't seem to realise he's "acting"
Then again, us British only have ourselves to blame for the state of this country. For example, a nature park in Richmond (Richmond Park) is now to start charging for people to park. They have in this place a café and an ice-cream van. These themselves pull in a lot of money and are both very lucrative for the council.
If people were to boycott this by not visiting the park via car for about three or four weeks, I believe it would be scrapped.
