      USA Customs charge?

      Hey

I have ordered a bike frame, and I was wondering roughly how much it will cost for duty ect.

I paid $565.00 and $220.00 shipping, which is about 489.00

How much do you think I would have to pay on top for duty?

      Thanks, anyone work in customs?

Not sure if the VAT rate is correct, I think it is still 15% till January 1st

      TARIC code is 8712003000 = 14%

      So 489 + 14% Import Tax + 15% VAT = 641

(I spent a lot of time on exporting in an earlier life)

Just pray it arrives before Jan 1st 2010, because VAT goes up to 17.5% then.

The carrier may also charge you (perhaps 20) for dealing with the import paperwork.

      Re: USA Customs charge?

The customs charge from whoever ships it may be more than that as some of them charge a %'age as they claim they are lending you the money to pay customs and you have to pay them interest.

Plus the 10-20 quid handling charge.
