Re: Windows 7 your thoughts after first week and sp ideas
I really like it, and most stuff works, its like Vista, but a finished version.
I'm a PC and I invented Windows 7~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~

Re: Windows 7 your thoughts after first week and sp ideas
I only had a couple of problems since moving to Windows 7, the first which was down to HP concerned the duplex function on my C6280 printer which was disabled by default.
The second, more curious was, having but the PC to sleep, being amazed to find it waking up by itself. This was down to the NIC being set to wake up the PC, since disabled.
Aside from that all running smoothly.

All well and good except for pinnacle studio 11 not being compatable and I will have to upgrade to version 14 for £50 and the XP mode being a bit dissapointing, when they say "legacy apps" they really mean "old DOS apps" which take no memory what so ever.
Also an added bonus there are now partition managers which will work with win 7 so I will need to get a new one as partition magic has had it's day being xp 32-bit only.
So all in all a big thumbs up and I am very pleased with all my hardware working straigjt out of the box.I'm a PC, and Windows 7 Backup saved my sanity when BitDefender imploded !!!

Re: Windows 7 your thoughts after first week and sp ideas
I've been using Windows 7 since the first Beta release. I bought the Home Premium Edition and was pleased to find all the features I use were covered by it rather than the Ultimate Edition released as Beta and RC. It's worked for all my hardware including an ancient Canon Scanner.
Definitely the best ever version of Windows with no problems for me. With almost 2 million Beta testers theirs no real reason to wait for SP1, buy it now.

It works, it looks pretty... and it's a whole lot better than Vista, which I hated, by the way.
It makes me laugh the people who seem to think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread, I really can't get that excited about an operating system.

They may look similar and use the same driver model but win 7 is very different under the hood.
The programs that have refused to work even under compatabilty mode have all been ones certified for vista.
Yet stuff for XP and even windows 98 have worked no problems.I'm a PC, and Windows 7 Backup saved my sanity when BitDefender imploded !!!
