      Re: Postal strike

I have a feeling that Amazon will be sending a large amount of them by courier as I got 2 books in different orders and they both came by couriers. and they were both less than a tenner.

As something as big as this I can see the whole thing given to couriers and the royal mail just being left out of the delivery solution.

I am inclined to agree, these big firms are unlikely to risk their reputation by using Royal Mail.

      Re: Postal strike

I got my confirmation email today from Currys and guess what

PLEASE NOTE: If you have pre-ordered a copy of Windows 7 this will not
leave our warehouse any earlier than Wednesday 21st October (the day before
the official launch date). You should expect delivery to be 5-7 days after
      this date.

How is my order being delivered?

Your order will be delivered by Royal Mail

      Re: Postal strike

I emailed Amazon and this is the response I got:

Thank you for taking the time to write to us with your concerns.

I wish to take this opportunity to assure you that Amazon.co.uk will be doing everything it can to ensure that customer orders are not disrupted as a result of Industrial Action at Royal Mail. This will include routing orders through our other carrier partners.

We use carriers which we have found to provide the best service for our different delivery options.

For UK customers, our orders are delivered primarily by Royal Mail and Citylink for Super Saver, First Class and Express Deliveries. We also use HDNL, Nightfreight and UPS, typically for large or high value items. Our ordering system automatically assigns a carrier to your order when it is ready to dispatch.
