Would you consider your connection speed when buying or moving house?

As the title really, How many people would check their estimated speed for a property they were considering moving too and would it effect your decision if the speed was only 1-2mb instead if the 20mb you could get in another property?

It would definitely be a major factor for me. I took the word of my landlord this time, but would have the line checked before moving into a new home. I have even thought about moving because of my lousy broadband.

I have to say that now, I would now consider the speed factor as well as a big part of the move, I surpose if you require a good broadband speed say for work then it would help, maybe also to see if cable is there as well.

Re: Would you consider your connection speed when buying or moving house?

Ok, how do I turn this into a poll? Should have thought about that earlier!!!

      Questions would be:-

1 - I would not care or check
2 - I would check but it would not influence my decision to move
3 - I would check and it would be one of my top 5 reasons to either move in or not
4 - Are you kidding, if I didn't get 10mb+ I would never move there
5 - Are you kidding, if I didn't get near 20mb I would never move there
6 - Unless it was a total bargain, I could never live with <2mb

I think I am ashamed to say I would be either 4 or at a push 5!!!

I wonder what this will do to the housing market in the future, I think if I ever put my house on the market I would advertise that I am currently getting 18-19mb broadband, if it's important to me then there must be other saddo's out there.

Re: Would you consider your connection speed when buying or moving house?

I personally do not intend moving, but if I were to sell my home then I think the broadband speed is becoming more of a factor for many. I guess its an other box that can be ticked to enhance the sale.
If I did move then yes it would be a factor to consider, However there are more important factors than broad band. Even today many homes do not have access to mains gas for instance.

Hi I think that would be a very good selling point when buying or selling a house. 2mbs or 20mbs Guaranteed LLU it would always be 20mbs Guaranteed LLU

Re: Would you consider your connection speed when buying or moving house?

I'd be a 2 as long as it was >1Mb/s. I've never had more than 2Mb/s so wouldn't miss what I haven't had. We might be putting our house on the market soon - will be interesting to see how many viewers, if any, ask about the speed.

      Most certainly

      Factors in buying a house

      1. Is exchange LLU'd ?
      2. What distance from the exchange ?
      3. Can you get Sky TV ?

Well I wouldn't get a say in anything, that's if we ever move.
