      let the rambling begin
      Dear god, wait til you reach the age of 44! The first computer I owned was an 8-bit jobbie and had 32kb of RAM. I remember my first modem, going online was a big thing then, it was the size of a brick had a top speed of 1.2kbps and cost an absolute fortune. So did the phone bills.

      Re: The Official Getting on and Getting Old Thread

      Oh well in for a penny in for a pound as they say.

      Wait till you get to nearly sixty (December the 11th 2010 for me.) My first "computer" was the Sinclair ZX 81. I was around for the ZX 80 but I didn't buy that. Programs, if you could call them that, were either coded in or loaded from a tape player, lots of screeching sounds and wobbly patterns on the screen. It came with 1kb of ram but it did have an expansion slot. The RAM packs were expensive for those days so we used to buy 1kb chips and stack em one on top of the other to make up more RAM. I think I was dissolusioned rather than inspired by my Sinclair experience although to be fair he did start the micro computer revolution. I didn't do anything much with computers after until I got an Amiga 1200. Now that's another story.

      Okay who wore cardboard boxes on their feet instead of shoes when they were younger.
