Rubbish! Each plug into the two sockets is protected by a 13amp fuse!

Each 4 or 6 way splitter has it's own 13 amp fuse! The ring main is protected by a 25/30 amp fuse. With the exception of the PSU all the rest of the peripherals can be measured in 10's of watts! 1000 watts = 1Kw = 4 and a bit amps (1000watts/230v)!

You are right about the old multi plug adapters which were unfused. However nowadays you cant buy them and any extension lead adapter will be fused at 13A, so if you plug items with a combined current draw of over 13A it will blow the fuse rather than set on fire and make you wish you had sprinklers.

As Geoff has already pointed out.

Even those are fused. Everything that plugs into a 13amp socket MUST have its own fuse!
You'd have to go back to the late 60's to find the old round pin fuseless plugs. And that's way before home computers!

Just so you all don't worry about me, I can confirm that everything is fused and I've not detected any smoke as yet
