Unless you intend to install more than 4Gb of RAM, there is little point in using 64bit. You also have to make sure that all your software is supported. Many applications are not supported, photo and video editing in particular. As these are the most likely to benefit from 64bit, if you use them, you should make certain they work.

You would have to check if 64bit drivers are available for your printer, older ones are not supported. Have a look on the Epson site.

I cant make my mind up whether to get the home edition now whilst its cheap, as noone seems to know exactly what will be pared from this version. All the reviews I've read seem to be of what will be the ultimate edition come release date, and we wont know what the home edition will consist of until later. The other thing that bothering me slightly is that it will ship as both 32 & 64 bit but with 1 serial number that once used is then locked to whichever version you choose to install.

The RC version most of us are running now is the Ultimate version. As far as I can see, for the home user, the only worthwhile thing the Home version lacks is the ability to run XP productivity mode. I can do without the other extras it offers. This apparently need special hardware to run, so if your PC does not support it, it would not be much good anyway. The Pro version also has this of course. Anyone here tried it?

If Win7 Ultimate is anything like Vista Ultimate it will be a waste of money. All the special goodies that were going to be released for it never materialised.

You can get an idea of the differences by looking at the charts here -
PC World UK Computer Superstore - Buy cheap computers, laptops, desktop PCs, printers, LCD TVs, sat nav, digital cameras and more..

Notice the prices have gone again!! The upgrade price is 20 higher than the special offer for the full version,
