back on topic i would go with Windows 7 64bit.
what would be the point in having a 64 bit processor
if your not going to use it...

      Re: Windows 7 would you!

if you have more than 4 gigabytes of adressable memory (graphics cards included) then 64 bit is the way to go as 32 bit can only address to 4 gigabytes.

I have a 1 gig graphics card and 8 gigs of DDR2 memory and have 64 bit XP installed.

I also have 32 bit XP installed on multiboot so I can also use anything that wasn't compatable but so far the only thing I use on that is partition magic and given that I have a 1 gigabyte grapphics card only 3 gig of RAM is avaliable to me.

Is there still such an issue with 64 bit drivers for win 7 as I thought all vista 64 bit drivers would work with it?

Also I have a CPU and motherboard that supports virtualisation and so I am looking forward to the XP mode that is coming in the Pro version so hopefully I won't have any legacy program issues.
I'm a PC, and Windows 7 Backup saved my sanity when BitDefender imploded !!!

Well you never said at the beginning that you had a processor that could run either 32 or 64 bit.

And I did say that AFAIK (thats ` as far as i know` btw), that a 64 bit could only run 64 bit version but I stand corrected ,learn something new every day.
Can`t for the life of me understand why you`d want to run 32 if you have capability to run 64 bit, if it`s a matter of compatibility then stick to XP then. Seems a bit like buying a brand new car and putting an old engine in it
