I have found only 3 things to be effective....

Water spray - they hate it

      .22 Rifle - likewise

Permanent solution for us, as our garden is bordered by a brick wall, fence and garage, was to liberally apply with a brush - grease mixed with white pepper along the tops of the wall and fence (both over 6ft high)

Not had any problems for over 8 months now...

      Mike

Careful that you don't get sued by burglars who slip on it

Perhaps you should read this :

Therfore It Is the Responsibility of owners of cats to train them to use litter trays, or a designated place in THEIR Garden.

Maybe you will understand, as i have Grand-Children
So your grand-children don't carry diseases then ?

And no, I'm not suggesting doing anything to them !

I already have, thanks, but I fail to see your point.

All of us carry and pass on diseases. Fortunately paranoia isn't one that I spread, if I can help it.

My garden is visited by all sorts of wild animals - foxes, deer, hedgehogs, squirrels, rats, voles, rabbits, moles, cats..... and guess what ? They all poo !

However, in the 17 years that I've lived here, I haven't contracted a single disease that I could attribute to my garden visitors, so I'm not worried about it.

Re: How Can i Stop Cats Pooing

TBH, I personally think cats should be banned as pets, unless they are kept indoors.

People go on about them being clean.. I have been to many friends' houses, and seen their cats use a litter tray or do their stuff in the garden, before burying it with their paws, and 5 mins later thesy are jumping on the sofa, table or worktop!

As a responsible dog owner, I keep my dog on a lead when out walking, and wouldn't dare allow her to foul someone's garden - she's not allowed to foul ours!

Cat owners DO have responsibilities, and if they can't control their cats, then they shouldn't have them.

      Just my 2p.

Oh, forgot, the 4th way of stopping them coming into my garden.. Allow my dog to chase them around her garden...

      Mike

In law, cats are regarded as semi-wild animals, so any responsibility would be based around that.

As you've found, the best way to keep cats out of your garden is to have a dog or a cat yourself, but they poo too.
