      sky CST agent

      Hi

my names Darren and im a SKY Broadband Technical Support Agent Tier 2 ( CST ) for those that dont no lol

If u have any issues like for example wireless-slow connection-intermittent connection-no connection issues ill help you as much as i can!!!!

just leave me a message or just reply to this message

i can also check up on your line status on LAMA ( CST SYSTEM ) to sort the issues.

speed tester on this site isnt accurate for onnet customers (base-mid-max)!!!!!!
      ITS ESTIMATED!!!!!!!!

the only place that you'll get an accurate result is on your router status page which is
192.168.0.1-----> which is typed into the URL
      Username------->admin
      Password-------->sky
      (all lower case)

then check the downstream connection and the upstream connection speed...

      C yas Later

That's why it says:- (my bold)

      ADSL2+ Speed Test
We estimate your line is capable of between 16mb to 24mb broadband on an ADSL2+ service.

Won't this only show the speed your line is capable of in it's current condition, if you have internal line faults or a faulty splitter/router etc it may be way out.

The ADSL2 Line Speed Checker is a good utility to get an ESTIMATED speed as a comparison, this will give an indication on your line condition.

Anyway, good to see someone from Sky else on-board to help, there are a few of you here now, there will be noone left to answer the phones soon

      Re: sky CST agent

      hi darzo75

Wonder if you can help me, I phoned sky CST yesterday to try and get the small cap on my line removed. Mainly because of the letter I recieved from sky saying they were going to increase the max broadband speed that they provide. The person I spoke to said the line was stable at the speed I have and would not be stable at advertised speed, I am not chasing the 1mg difference as I normally download at just over 13mg. Do you think I should call back and ask for the slight cap to be removed, so my line is prestine for any upgrade, I will post router stats below. Thanks Joe

      Hi darzo75

On the subject of the increase speed of the max package that is surpose to be coming, will that include an increase of the upstream speed and if so could you say what it would go too.

      Thanks.

Every time I phone CST they tell me to test my line here Test Result
Here is mine from router stats
      DownStream Connection Speed 8128 kbps
      UpStream Connection Speed 448 kbps

so why I'm I getting between 2-3 mb most of the time my thoughtout profile is 7150 on the BT TESTER

Because you are on Connect and it is suffering with capacity problems, exchange congestion, traffic shaping and throttling.

Or did you just want a Sky rep to confirm it

See the huge thread about it.

i agree that you can get a comparison with it but its only good if your on the connect package...
if your on the onnet packages (base-mid-max) its not the best idea to be doing it
most of the time if you run the test you will get different results.

on the router page you are seeing the upstream and downstream connection that we are seeing on LAMA, and if we make any adjustments to the connection it will automatically show there for you

      and thanks Smithy99

      Re: sky CST agent

      Sorry Darzo, my bad,

I did not mean the speed tester, I meant Potential ADSL2 and Line Speed Calculator ( SkyUser - Potential ADSL2 Line Speed Checker & Calculator ), the one that works out your estimated speed by line attenuation.

I do agree that speed test sites give variety of results which should always be taken with a pinch of salt.

The speed checker on the otherhand should give a clear indication of the speed you should get with a good line with your attenuation.

it would be better for ya to get the cap removed it looks as if your line could defo handle the full 16mig connection
i would make sure that if you contact us up to get them to out your upstream connection speed to 768 for a steadier connection speed
aswell theres no CRC errors building on your line so the connection should be sound as a pound..

      Andy17

there is talk about the connection speed increasing for the MAX package customers.
will if you put it this way if your on a connection from 1-8 mig the upstream connection will sit at 416 Kbp's that keeps the connection running smooth.
anything from 8-16 mig the upstream connection speed will sit at 768 again to give the best connection speed.

i believe that if the speed does increase the upstream will have to increase.
