Why would somebody tell me that. They sounded pleased that they were now the largest ISP
in the UK. Nearing the end of telephone conversation just general chitchat I have no reason to think that person is lying I do not know them personally and there is nothing to gain

That is what I was told. After a callback. Yesterday afternoon Sky purchased Tiscali 15/01/09
and Sky now largest BB provider in UK

No one is saying its not true, I answered Paul's question.

      what have you unofficially herd
And I said, 'That it hasn't happened.'

I hope it is true tbh - all those customers on Tiscali would now have a decent ISP looking after them. Yes Sky ain't perfect, but they are the best ISP I have ever paid money too. We were told last month, that the news was to be released on 13th January, but then all the news came out that the deal had fell through.

Like you say though, there was no reason for her to mention anything. All I am saying, is the people I asked tonight unofficially said that their idea of what was happening is that Sky wanted to pay less, and had walked away from it. Maybe Tiscali called them back?

Strange The dates 13/01/09 15/01/09 I think if it was me I would not tell anyone because of big advertising campaign you would want to advertise about being the biggest entertainment provider in the UK.
What if Sky only wanted certain parts of Tiscali. (there is quite a bit of news at the moment about Tiscali having problems)

Not what you want from a Chip shop. Woods and pigeons, I probably wouldn't go back.
