try unplugging the receiver for a couple of minutes, if that doesn't work take the magic eye downstairs and plug it into the back of the receiver directly to see if it lights up.

      Re: Magic Eye and SKy+

Have you checked if the magic eye works when directly connected to the receiver.

Also check that the RF power is still on in the menu.

Anything is possible but it is unusual, it's normally something to do with the wiring or setup.

      Re: Magic Eye and SKy+

I have installed a magic eye today, using the RF2 port on my Sky+ box. I have attached it to a TV in my bedroom directly above the lounge. I have made sure the RF output signal is on and set to channel 68. I have tuned in the TV upstairs and get a good picture, but cannot use my remote control to change the channel. The LED light on the magic eye is not on. It does come on when I put it directly into the Sky+ RF2 output - so I know is is functional. Can anyone suggest what I am doing wrong. Like I say, I get a picture upstairs but cannot change the channels - please help!!!

      Re: Magic Eye and SKy+

Check your coax connectors, there should be no outer braid touching the inner core.

You do need the outer braid though so dont just cut it off, it should be pulled back and the gripper of the plug should go over it.

You should get the red light on upstairs once it is connected properly.

I assume you have a lead directly from RF2 to the TV upstairs, no other connections on it or amps etc.

      Re: Magic Eye and SKy+

Yes the lead goes directly to the TV upstairs. I will re-check my coax connections - they do seem rather loose. I will post how I get on.

      Re: Magic Eye and SKy+

As smithy says it will most likely be the connectors not quite made off correctly. I have a similar setup and made up the leads myself. First time round it didnt work so remade the ends and all was fine.
