Do you mean Dinorwig at Llanberis? They have a very nice cafe at the visitor centre, if you're not tempted by a cheese and chips butty and a pint mug of tea at Pete's Eats.
O and the lights are still on, Ratcliffe on Soar is still pumping steam into the atmosphere as I type, mind you swampy and his mates might hijack a coal train.
Time to go started to ramble.Last edited by penrhyn; 18-06-08 at 03:44 PM.

Re: help with tracking country wide power cuts
We went around Electric Mountain, what an amazing piece of engineering work. The electric worked there as well. We know that because all the lights were on, and we didn't need to use the torches once inside.

Re: help with tracking country wide power cuts
For a second I was going to post along the lines of what i did last night, but as its the same guy, and there has only been one power cut I really dont see the point.
1 power cut in any area could be from hundreds of reasons.
Example, 2 weeks ago half of south london was cut off, the reason was huge fire at the sub station - not the power companies trying to save money as CC seems to believe.
If you have been cut off, call either your provider or regional provider, National Grid can tell who that is and ask - they have to tell you!
*edit*
Oh, if you do want to know this info, you could try asking NG, it is probably not for the public, but they might tell you.
*end edit*
Posts like these are as bad as the stance the media took on the fuel shortages last week, all it does start a form of panic and is irresponsible.
Sorry NR and Satdish for the rant, but I'm peeved at the media for the hassle they have caused over this weekend...Last edited by Kbramman; 18-06-08 at 04:17 PM. Reason: added a bit

Re: help with tracking country wide power cuts
I don't know what you mean Glenn.
We didn't have a power cut in St Helens last night for definite. We left the landing light on, and this morning when I awoke, there was a Jumbo Jet near the bathroom.~ Never, ever, argue with an idiot. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience ~

You shouldn't have had that Curry before bedtime.
Back to the topic at hand. Last year I came home to find the path right outside the front of the house being dug up and a portable generator in the front garden. I turned out we had a power cut (only us and not our neighbours) because during a torrential downpour the water had somehow got into the electrics underground and the result was a power cut for us only. Credit to the power company as they got the repair team out quite quickly and hooked us up to this generator while they dug the path up and fixed the fault.
