It's getting worrying, my pension scheme (Thames Water) is performing a government backed audit where all the members are checked against government databases to make sure that the details for all the members are correct, this is ran by the audit commission.

So I am expecting for the whole of the pension scheme to be lost in the post somewhere now as this is ran by the government.

^ And that has happened just days after the Government have promised to look after data much more carefully. It isn't going to happen is it ?

Sorry to upset you on this one, but the British Council isn't part of the government...

Plus, for the second time, TNT have actually lost the package - surely someone should be reviewing any contracts in place with a company that manages to lose items - esp when this one was by their secure delivery process.

Oh, and this disc was not a cd/dvd, and was encrypted anyway - so the chances of someone finding it, having the right equipment, and breaking the encryption is so low it's almost not a news story...

All the courier firms are just as bad, FedEx lost a parcel my wife was sending for her work. She got "it is somewhere in Charles De Gaul Airport" from customer services and in the end she had to resend it.

The clients were not very happy.

As for "special" optical disc, considering organised criminal gangs now have electron microsopes to try and read your pin number off a chip and pin card, who knows what they have access to (especially ones who are based in China).
