Thieves who got away with 3,000 blank passports and visas worth around £2.5 million targeted the van as it stopped at a newsagent's, police have said.

Personal details about nearly 100 benefit claimants have been wrongly sent to a couple in Cornwall.
The package should have been taken from offices of the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) in Cheshire to a government centre in Yorkshire.

Good of the couple to open the package, take pictures and send onto the news companies - hopefully the police will have a few words pointing out how wrong that is... or not as that's sensible.
Oh, just my POV, but are these really things the Govt have lost? first 2 were stolen vans and the second was TNT delivering it to the wrong address - had it been someone chucking them on the street I'd agree, but not these ones....

As well as losing byelections, looks like they'll soon be losing Mr Brown!

Re: The official what have the government lost or had stolen this week thread
Yep of course they should be here. What have the government lost, or had stolen this week?
Quite simply they lost 3000 passports through theft and also various other documents etc through TNT not being very security conscious. Put simply, did the Government have 3000 passports the day before yesterday? Do they have them now? Nope, they were stolen.
I wish they would lose Gordon Brown or at least send him somewhere via TNT.

Data Breach: Criminals' Details Lost
Information about all of the 84,000 prisoners in England and Wales has been lost, including names, addresses and in some cases, release date.
The addresses of some 30,000 individuals with six or more convictions in the past twelve months were also stored on the memory stick, which was being used by a researcher from PA Consulting.
