New Community Features of the forum

I have been looking around at the new features such as friends and photo albums and in all honesty do people think they will be used? I am not being negative about the hard work both NR and Satdish have put into the site, I just wonder how much the new features will take off. Look at the blogs for example? I suppose the real question is are we are community in a sense?

Re: New Community Features of the forum

It was no extra work Ricky, its part of the new version of the Software we use, hasn't cost us any extra to add the features, as we own the Licence rather than rent it.

Tell a lie, we have to pay $5 a month for the Anti Spam features. Now a new member has their first two posts scanned against a known database, if it detects a spam post it will send that post into a moderation queue. Hopefully effectively killing any spam posts whatsoever. Which has to be well worth the money, all 2.50 per month or so.

Ahh ok I did not realise you owned the licences. Actually thinking about it I am a heavy user of social networking sites and the new features offer the popular features to I suppose to many of our members who use the forum who do not use social networking sites.

NB This post makes sense in my head but after a heavy day of revision it may not in yours!

      LOL

Makes sense, apparently we have a Facebook, Bebo and a MySpace as well as a YouTube account, I don't know what you do with them like. I have just been sending everyone Friends requests, to make it look like I have loads of mates.

Pretty positive that's not what it was designed for, but I do have 8 friends now

Bah.... Social Networking, I must be too old to understand it.

It will also catch out legitimate posts but that is a minor issue for keeping spam away from the site.

Hopefully effectively killing any spam posts whatsoever.
It will not stop spammers attempting to post but it will stop them getting live on the site.

Oh and as for social networking I don't use it either as I don't get it either.
