      LG's Viewty v. iPhone

Well...all the hype's ongoing with the 'arrival' of Apples iPhone isn't it and it IS hype! Apple may have the upper hand when it comes to 'promoting' but they're not the only company who've brought out a touch screen mobile.

LG have also brought one out too-and has been on the market for a few weeks I gather. I have to say though that I'm not an LG fan, but a mate of mine's just bought this mobile and it smashing! the iPhone only has 2mp camera, whereas the LG Viewty (silly name) has 5mp camera-PLUS also has an excellent video which can play back in slo-mo too.

I also noted (think I'm right here) that the iPhone doen't do picture messaging which is rather weird in this techno age, but the Viewty does.

this may sound like I'm not an Apple fan; I'm not a mac user but do have a Nano which is smashing, however think the LG Viewtys well worth a look before plunging in for the iPhone.

I saw both on Sky News before, the IPhone looks nice though

      I would happily have either.

A mate at work has had an iphone for a couple of weeks now, his brother lives in us and sent it him for his birthday. I agree it does look nice but I can think of a lot of better uses for 300 than a phone - lol

Not worth forking out for. To think the yearly cost of it thru O2 will run to 900. Rip off Britain again. I'll stick with my work Orange M700, 3p a text you can't go wrong.

Come on the Toon the morra

I was going to get one (iPhone) for Xmas, But the 300 then 900 Service, I think il stick with my N95!

If it was 35 or whatever a month, But with a better value in terms of mins and texts, Then it would be worth it!

      Re: LG's Viewty v. iPhone

well i have plumped for the iphone, 'cos i have had an lg before (chocolate) and it was god awful. the reviews i read on the net said the functionality was similar, so that swung it for me.

i paid 269 for the phone, and 35 a month with 200 messages and texts and unlimited data.

i love it. it is a beautiful thing.

      Re: LG's Viewty v. iPhone

After really looking at both phone Ian, I can now see why The iPhone has a most lovely coloured screen-shame about the camera though-but it's a much nicer looking phone than the Viewty, which looks virtually all dark and moody. From what I saw on a demo model of the Viewty, ALL the screen modes looked bland. I could well be wrong mind.

Still not sure if its worth the money they're asking though.

My mate said the LG Prada had had really bad press and was total rubbish, but the Viewty's reviews were much better-I'd rather wait and see what the final outcome is.

And yes, if I were offered any of them, I wouldn't refuse either

The iPhone looks great, & has an excellent UI, but it's a definite "No" for me simply 'cos of the lack of 3G & HSDPA, plus the O2 lock-in & the rather stingey tariffs.

      Re: LG's Viewty v. iPhone

Well this might be poor reasoning, but I've never had 3G before, so I don't know what I'm missing! I can see why people wouldn't get it due to the things that are missing (I did think seriously before I got it), but the phone as it is is a step up for me, so I'm happy.

      I'm easily pleased, you see!
