      Off with his chopper!

This thread title and the listing below, is lifted from:

DigiGuide: The Best TV Guide with UK Radio and UK TV Listings

I never thought I could face yet another programme about
Elizabeth 1 (of England, not Scotland) or Henry VIII.
These monarchs must already be the most over exposed in
      all of history.

But this promo from Digiguide has raised my interest.

      Off with his chopper!
Sex, sex, the odd matter of state and considerably more rumpy pumpy.
That's pretty much the tone of The Tudors, a bawdy 'n' boisterous,
boobs 'n' bums romp through the life and times of Henry VIII,
which begins next Friday (October 5) on BBC Two.
One of the big highlights of this week's TV,
it's hardly an accurate history lesson,
more a glitzy soap opera, and stars Jonathan Rhys Meyers
as the dishy monarch who's a master with his two swords,
one of steel, the other of pork.

      Johnathan Rhys Meyers
is also on the front cover of this weeks
Radio Times in a striking pose.
(Although those trousers look like they are
      about to do a P J Proby*.)

The RT is very slightly more delicate than digiguide.
      "It’s a riotous, roistering, boobs-and-bums view of
Tudor England with panting blondes queing up in
their nighties to get a good seeing-to" -RT

      Re: Off with his chopper!

According to Robert Bolt in his play
“A Man for all Seasons” –
      Henry VIII, died of syphilis.

Henry was awarded the title “Defender of The Faith”
by the "shameless" Pope Leo X
for Henry’s defence of The Roman Catholic Church
      against the Protestant Reformers.
The irony of the title is carried through to this very day.

No wonder someone wants to change it to “Defender of Faith”
      - even if it is for all the wrong PC reasons.

From the brief traller I saw this looks quite good, it doubt very much it will be up to the standards of Rome but I am looking forward to this.
