Re: Never thought I would say this

I assume that this is in readiness of the upcoming court case regarding Sky One, either Virgin thinks they won't get Sky One back and are having to start up their own channel or that this can be used as some negiating tool.

Although as I said if for some very strange reason that Sky loses the case I said what will happen is that a new Sky channel say Sky Premiere will be launched and that will have all the good stuff that sky one now has and Sky one will have all the old stuff shoved on it and the new channel will be satellight only.

Wonder if Virgin thought the same?

Re: Never thought I would say this

If Virgin had any sense, they would go back to the negotiating table now. As for the programs on the trailer I have never heard of them apart from The Terminator.

As for Sky One, I only ever watch Lost on it, so no skin off my nose whatsoever. However Business is business and VM really need to sort this out and maybe gain some new customers.

VM were a great company before being called VM, it just seems that they have pressed the self destruct button.

Still a great advert though, shame I can't get it, would have been worth a shot at seeing what they would give me, when my BB contract with Sky is up in 4 months or so.

“Virgin 1' First day line up is nothing fancy”

Fibre, Your classic understatement must be ironic.

      “2300 Penis Envy”

I hope no one reports you for using the P word
especially as it is so closely linked to the V word.
      Your post may be deleted.
      That would be a pity,
as this schedule deserves to be laughed at.
Is it really meant to be a substitute for Sky One?

Re: Never thought I would say this

I think VM have suddenly realised how expensive making/buying TV shows actually cost, it has taken sky almost 20 years to develop Sky One as a brand and to get it to what it is today.

Take a TV movie like Terry Pratchett's Hogfather, it cost Sky One £6 million for 4 hours of TV and it was so popular the next one has a budget of £15 million for another 4 hours.

I don't know how much Sky pays for programmes such as Battlestar Galactica, Lost etc, but if it costs in the region of £1 million/hour for a quality programme we can see why Sky repeats it so often during the week as that is a lot of money. How ever you look at it and I don't think VM actually has the cash to get there at the moment.

Adrian I agree with what you say above.
More importantly, I think you may have hit
the nail on the head with post 11.
That post could really explain what the advertising
      campaign is all about.
