Wi Fi Sky Box
Having recently switched to Sky BB, I was busy in the process of changing the WiFi settings of all my machines to work with the new router. After sorting out my WII I realised I hadn't plugged My Sky+ box into the phone socket after moving house, and began routing a phone cable around my living room to the box.
Then It hit me, Why cant Sky issue boxes with wifi built in. Saves messing around with phone lines and would open up a host of interactive options.
Is this idea old hat, or should I be looking at the patent for it??????MOST THINGS BAFFLE ME!!!!

Re: Wi Fi Sky Box
The same thought occurred to me too, and I sent a question to Sky via their site asking them why they didn't produce a wifi-enabled box. I have not had a response, though. If enough people ask them, they will realise there is a demand.

Re: Wi Fi Sky Box
I doubt they would want the problems that come with wifi, poor reception, interference etc. Wires are much more reliable.
I don't have wireless on my setup, too much hassle and a security risk.

Re: Wi Fi Sky Box
Because it would increase the box cost which Sky subsidises anyways.
Also there is a huge move away from wireless over to powerline homeplugs due to the 2.4 GHz band being saturated, due to ISP's shipping wi-fi enabled routers en masse and other devices sitting in this band.
The HD boxes do have ethernet ports but these haven't been turned on and nobody knows outside Sky what they have planned for them anyways.I'm a PC, and Windows 7 Backup saved my sanity when BitDefender imploded !!!
