My ZX-81 at 1kb still wins! And I won't even count the thing my dad put together in a kit. That had 512 BYTES of memory

No a B was an A with 32kb. The B also had various interfaces that weren't present on the A.

An original Apricot (purchased 1985) with twin floppies, no hard drive. I think it had a 5mHz Intel 8086 and offered a choice of MSDOS or CP/M -- cost about 1000 including a daisywheel printer. I used it for 5 years.

My first one was bought in 1997, only ten years ago. It was a Compaq Presario can't remember the model number. It ran Windows 95, had 4GB HD, 16mb Ram, a CD-drive and a floppy. Can't remember the cost but it was pricey! Funny thing is though it was still running in 2004 for word processing, the thing never gave up and is still in the loft!

      That's what I said!

What extra interfaces did the B have? I remember an RS232 and Turtle interface, but no disk interface - I had to pay extra for that some time after I had the machine.

I've also still got my original BBC (no box anymore, I'm afraid), complete with disk drive and official BBC B tape recorder and a box load of games!

I gave mine to a school a few years back. Did you have frogger and that carousel shooting game?

Re: what was your first pc ??

486DX33 running MS Dos 6 and Windows 3.1

170MB Harddrive and 4 MB RAM (later upgraded to 8 MB RAM).

Included a 14.4 Kbps Modem and my first ISP was Demon @ a tenner a month plus standard BT call rate. I had to use Hyperterminal to login to Demon and download the software needed to get a proper connection. I remember spending hours trying to get Trumpet software to enable a TCP/IP connection with Demon - there was no built-in Internet with Windows at that time.

My web browser was Mosaic as it was the only web browser in 1994 and I beta tested Forte Agent as my Newsreader and still use Agent today.

Most web pages were plain grey background with virtually all text and related to military, educational, or computing; finding a picture was exicting!

Oh the hours I spent staring in wonderment at my window on the world.
