Fed up and have my MAC code. Where next?
I have been with BT Broadband option 3 for the last 15 months. During that time i was happy enough getting speeds of around 1.8mb as BT say i am on a long line.
Early this month my speeds started to drop, 0.9mb down as low as 0.1mb at times. A quick phone call on 10th July to complain and my speed shot up to 2.3mb. Fantastic i thought.
25th July and my speed was......... 128kbps! according to the thinkbroadband speedtester.
After 3 days, numerous emails and almost 4 hours on to BT broadband technical support i have given up and i have my MAC code.
Now, what i would like to know is, would i get better speed from Sky.
I live 1.2km(straight line), 1.8km by road from the exchange. The green BT box is 50 feet from my house.
I took these figures from my router if they are of any use.
Line Rate 2848kbps down 448kbps up
Noise margin 15.1 dB down 18.0dB up
Line Attenuation 58.0dB down 31.5dB up
Output Power 17.9dBm down 11.9dBm up
Can anyone give me some idea of what i may expect.

Re: Fed up and have my MAC code. Where next?
I don't quite believe this but, i went out for a couple ofswift ones whilst doing some Saturday afternoon shopping.
On approach to my humble abode i saw a BT Openreach van travelling in the opposite direction.
Sat down, did a speed test and i'm now getting 1.8mbps.
I don't know if i should thank BT, scream at them for the lousy technical support or go back to the pub,
Anyway thanks for your replies. I think i might give Sky a go and save some money.
