iTunes - Anyone had problems connecting since joining sky bb

I am just wondering whether anyone else has had problems connecting to iTunes since changing to sky bb, or is it just a coincidence? I have never had a problem connecting to iTunes before I joined sky and now although I have tried to get connected, checking iTunes is allowed by my connection and checking the list of things that may give me trouble from apple technical team by email ... nothing doing!

Has anyone here any experience of this happening or have any ideas how I can resolve this please? I may have missed something? I would be grateful for any suggestions.

I have checked this, (and just checked again before replying) and made sure that the 'exclusion' box is checked for programs to be allowed and iTunes is ticked. I even closed the firewall down to try it but it just won't connect. The strange thing is that nothing has changed on my pc other than moving broadband to sky so I really don't know??! Is there a firewall in the router or something I should change in the setting - just wondering, the router is something that is new to me so I would not know.

There is nothing on the Sky router that would block iTunes. It must be elsewhere.

I find it very strange that all of a sudden it won't connect, what if I removed iTunes completely and downloaded it again? I can't see there would be any change but then I don't know what has caused it in the first place - never had any problems before this!
      Thanks for your help though.

Re: iTunes - Anyone had problems connecting since joining sky bb

I removed itunes and quicktime and then downloaded them again but this did not work. Now I have discovered that I am unable to connect windows player to network either - it won't recognise connection to internet at all, neither will quicktime. This has all happened since having sky bb so there is obviously something that I am missing, need to do to enable connection. These are not recognising the connection.

      Any ideas?

It does sound like a problem with a firewall or other network control device.

Perhaps if you tell us a little about your current setup - in particular, what firewall, Anti Virus, or other network control software do you run? Norton, McAfee, etc.

Can I presume that all your other internet connected programs work ok? Browser, Email, any Instant Messenger programs?

The other thing you might want to do is turn off uPnP on the router.

The firewall is Microsoft windows defender - which itunes is allowed (ticked box)
      Anti virus - AVG
      Browser and Email are fine.

I did this when I first discovered the problem just to see and I have left it turned off just in case. I have checked internet connections and all is working fine

Have you tried turning off Windows Defender temporarily?

Windows Defender is an AntiSpyware program rather than a firewall. Is you AVG anti virus the free version or a paid for version that includes a firewall?

My advice so far would be to temporarily disable Defender and AVG and see what happens.
