half life deathmatch 2

hello,
recently i switched my broadband to sky broadband.
i play on hlaf life deathmatch and i used to have a ping/latency of 15-30 most of the time.
however since i subscribed to sky bb my latency has hit the roof and is now ranging from 70 (being the lowest all the time) to 210.
this is definatley effecting my gameplay on hl2dm because its so laggy and slow.
how do i improve my latency and stop it from lagging without changing isp.
(p.s. i am not a computer person so a simple answer would be very nice and greatly appreciated)

Unfortunately there isn't really a simple answer to this. I'm the same as you. My minimum ping is about 80 now. I've been on to Sky but they say that this is "within acceptable limits". For them maybe - not for us!

There is a change they can make (turn interleaving off) on your line but they don't seem willing to do that.

well then that is ridculous! they big up their company, oh yes great connection speeds but it cant even give me a low ping on a game!
sorry for being frustrated but its quite silly that there is no way to be able to play a game i enjoy that needs connection without changing my isp!
