Its all down to the security software - and credit where credit is due - McAfee tech support came through in the end (online support rather than the numpties they have on telephone support)
Thanks for all the links guys, they came in helpful when explaining where I was up to.
Complete home network up and running and, so far, no huge problems with my sky service. Happy xmas indeed!
Have a good one everyone and wish everyone well for 2007!

I have XP Pro SP2, I have downloaded the Media Connect 2 from xbox.com, all it fine and it's not an issue with Sky whatsoever...
Just a general query really, do you need to have XP Media Center Edition/Vista to play video's on the 360 or can it be configured to also work with XP Pro SP2?
I can currently view Pictures and Music from my PC on my 360.

you need either XP media centre or WMP11 to stream video to your 360, i would be inclined to go the media centre or vista route as there have a been a lot of issues regarding WMP11 not being able to stream any media.

Re: Xbox 360 as a Media Center Extender
You can view videos on the 360 using XP Pro SP2, but not the wide range they claim. So far only WMV videos will stream, while MPEG1/2 files don't stream at all.
