I moved into a new house and didn't want to run long cables everywhere and wanted a stable connection between my xbox and router. I went for a Homeplug solution which uses your homes electrical wiring to pass data around the house, you just pop a homeplug in a socket by your router and one by your xbox and then run a small ethernet cable between your devices.

Works a treat for me and at quite a good speeds too.
