      Xbox live connected fine - But slow?

      Using Ethernet like I did with Tiscali, I basically unplugged cable from old router and plugged it in new, I connect perfectly and can play online and everything, the only problem is that it's quite laggy and downloads take forever.. My download speeds on my PC are 1100kb/s or so at the moment - Why can't my 360 handle this?

      because the latency on sky is poor. go to start menu then run. type cmd in the box once the command promt has opened type this ping -n 100 bbc.co.uk and hit enter. this will test your ping speed, post your results here.

      ye there pretty much same results as i get. those ping results arnt really ideal for us online gamers. For online gmaing u want sub 30 pings or maybe even as low as 20. The only thing you can do is contact sky to ask for interleaving to be turned off. I just did this and unfortanately they dont seem to want to turn it off so i think we are stuck with the lag.

      Those pings are fine, with Tiscali I had like 50-60 and I got faster speeds.

      I just ran that test and my average ping was 32ms i`ve not had any lag since i switched over to Sky

      Just a coulple of points that i can suggest here

      1. when downloading off the marketplace try and do it early in the day, the xbox live servers do take a hit during peak hours.

      2. your lag could be down to many things, the host exceeding his or her limits on how many players or the host using p2p whilst playing.
      p2p and MSN Messenger as we know are bandwidth killers and can have an adverse effect on the stability on XBL.

      ping while streaming music from msn

      Never had any problems with xbox live connection (wireless) once the whole getting connected thing was sorted! Gonna do the NAT thing tho coz sometimes get 'couldn't connect to everyone in the room'. Not that much of a problem tho. GUYS the best thing i did for my connection was the 'have only #'s 2+5 attatched' advice i got from dslzoneuk.net instant and excellent speed increase. I was quite worried about pullin' wires out of the back of my telephone sockets! but it was easy and worked bringing the biggest smile to my face since joining sky bb. Now averaging 4000ish from a previous high of 1800kbps (Connect)

      Every time i try pinging bbc.co.uk i get through 10-20 then request time out then it carries on for 10-20 then request timed out

      I game on Xbox Live often, and i am yet to encounter problems.
      I play games in the region of Gears of War, Pro Evolution 6, Splinter Cell..
      I can host games on GoW/Pro Ev and i have never had any trouble, furthermore, i am on a 3.5 meg connection, which is seemingly fine for Xbox Live.
