Chances are that it is due to the wireless connection, can you try wired?

I had similar issues until I bought a couple of homeplugs and have never looked back, no problems since.

it is still the same when i have the xbox wired.

i have no problem getting on xbox live and talking online but as soon as it searches for available games it takes an age and when it puts you in a games everyone else has full signal to the host and mine is always minimum. surely this has to something to do with my ping times??

You can fill in a request form on the sky.com website (KANA form) requesting for you max delays to be lowered to 8, that's about all Sky can do for pings.

I ping BBC.co.uk at around 29ms and have never had any problems with Xbox Live since I went wired. Although since the new Xbox update it takes 5mins to get onto Halo's server, my mate has no delay

could it just be sky in general that is the problem?

I don't think so as there would be lots more people on here complaining. As I said once I have connected to the servers I have no problems with lag or gameplay.

When you do the network test from the Xbox dashboard does everything check out ok?

I have read that using openDNS as the DNS server helps but I cannot confirm this. There should be plenty of posts about OpenDNS if you do a search and want to try.

On the otherhand Xbox live servers are getting a bit swamped at the moment with the new upgrade being downloaded and also the new Gears of War game. Lets hope it's not going to be a repeat of last year when it was unusable over xmas due to the amount of people online!!!
