PS3 lag
I had my sky max broadband activated last Tuesday and for the first time tried playing my PS3 online last night. I was playing Fifa 09 and noticed that the lag was really bad, on the kick off there was none of the oppositions players and then they slowly appeared within a couple of seconds and the gameplay wasnt smooth. I then played COD and the gameplay was ok but I noticed my connection was only 2 bars.
Heres a my stats from my router, a few ping tests and some speed test, do they look right?

Looking at these stats there shouldnt be a problem, but is there something I'm missing? Ive read about getting my max delay reduced but does that effect your download speed? I do tend to use P2P programs.
Btw I'm using my own netgear router instead of the sagem one sky sent as the wireless connection is better for my laptop but the PS3 is wired to the router.
Sorry for the endless post

Re: PS3 lag
How does your PS3 connect to the router? A wireless connection is not very good for gaming.

Re: PS3 lag
remember P2P run in the background (in the system tray) so are probably maxing the bandwidth...turn them off when not in use and see if that helps...
also, you'll be going through initial DLM still as it goes on the first 10 days (hence the higher than it should be upstream speed)...this could account for a bit of lag...-------------------------------------------

Re: PS3 lag
Reducing your max delays will lose you some speed, but not so much that'll you'll be crying every night about it. Unless you are really sad and depressed...
What's interesting is the huge delay on pinging google.com, 815ms is huge and shouldn't happen at all, even 172 is high for goggle's servers

Re: PS3 lag
I turned my laptop off so there was no other internet connection and just tried playing online and its becoming frustrating. I think I'll have to wait another couple of days and see if the DLM sorts itself out.
Just done another ping to google.com and it resulted an average of 173ms.
