Connection Problems

Over the last few weeks Ive noticed my online gaming sessions seem to be lagging. Ive been playing FIFA 09 on the PS3 today and it just getting worse. Ive just run a speed test and here is my results



Having read through the forum Im sorry to say Im still confused. I know there is the option of changing my Max Delays to 8 through sky but having spoke to the agent this morning he suggested not doing that as they would cap my broadband to a lower speed which would make my gaming online worse??

I know from reading the forums that lower pings = better gaming so is changing my Max delays the best option or is there anything else I can do??

Any help would be greatfully received.

PS Im on the Base package with sky.

as far as i am aware even 512k broadband is fine for ps3 online gaming so if your download speed was reduced a little it would not make any difference, upload speed is probably more important anyway.

Delay is what causes the lag. I would go ahead and ask them to reduce it.
If it makes it worse you can always ask them to put it back up, you have nothing to lose.

After e-mailing sky and asking them to change my max delays I just ran a new speedtest and the results are below



Are these results ok??

As my pings have dropped right down to 50 Im hoping I will now have a better online gaming experience. Thanks to everyone on the site for all the useful information.

your ping is much better, i think you will notice the difference.
