Cant connect wireless to PS3

Got a new shiney PS3 yesterday but am having issues connecting wirelessly.

Have a netgear router from Sky which is connected via ethernet to PC (tried to connect wireless a few months back but gave up - this could be connected to the new issue with ps3)

I followed the instructions in PS3 settings:
Internet connections,wireless,scan,found router ok (SSID: SKY......) only 50% signal though ,selected WEP, then inserted the 26 digit security key (taking care with upper case) obtained from going into 192.168.0.1 on PC

then all i get is connection failed at the end

I have AVG & Zonealarm installed on PC if this makes a diff.

Any ideas guys ?

Firstly change the channel of the router on the settings page
try 1/6/11 experiment

also put the router back to WPA-PSK and use the 8 letter network
key its securer and I have used a PS3 and a netgear sky router without
issues before

hi there mate i had the same problem a couple of days ago after a lot of trawling through the net i rectified my problem by doing the following

1. bring up the router page 192.168.0.1
2. click on wireless settings
3. click on wireless station access list
4. go to add new station manually
5. device name = ps3 and the mac address of your machine you will find on one of the ps3 menus
6. add this info and dont forget to click apply at the bottom
7. reboot the router (i always do whenever i make changes)

this adds the ps3 to the trusted wireless stations now go back and set up a new wireless connection on your ps3 where it says auto/manual/ on any setting leave it on auto and hopefully fingers crossed you should be online

p.s get rid of zonealarm altogether as the router has a firewall built in i had loads of problems with zonealarm also turn off the windows firewall as this also causes conflicts with the netgear router.

i would also get rid of avg and replace it with avast home edition (this is just my personal choice) ......................horses for courses and all that

open up IE or Firefox or any other web browser and type in to the address bar 192.168.0.1,

this should then ask for a username and password

most of the time it's admin for username and password is sky (please remove if necessary mods) not very secure i know but it's default.

Help!! I am having the same problem trying to connect PS3 wirelessly. I have tried the above solutions, ie, changed channel and added PS3 manually, but it still fails. Can anyone help? Incidentally, the XBOX 360 and Wii both connect fine.

you have to enable the wifi on the ps3, have you done that?
