You could cable inside, or go for powerline plugs (I have not used these so cannot really comment).
In the past I have cabled ethernet and has been out side for over 5 years with no hits from lighting.

Re: PS3 Online Gaming Connection
As already mentioned, it will be fine outside. Just make sure it is tight to the wall with cable clips. If you really don't want to do this, and don't mind spending another £80 or so, then google "Homeplugs". These will effectively use your internal household wiring to carry the signal thus negating the need to run cables everywhere.

Re: PS3 Online Gaming Connection
Thanks guys- the guy on the phone advised that home plugs could work!
The thing is, after more Googling I read that they're rubbish?

Have a read of this page, although the site is xbox related the principles remain the same. I can vouch for the site owners credibility, if they were not upto the job, they wouldn't be on his site.

Re: PS3 Online Gaming Connection
Thanks for all your help guys!
I decided to go with Ethernet connection in the end, rather than Homeplug.... And after a quick call to Sky they were able to get the full 8MBs at the master socket!.... At my computer it's dropping to 6.9MBs (I guess it's losing speed in the in the 10m of Ethernet?) but it's still faster than I've ever had before so I'm more than happy!
The delay has been reduced to 8 too, so my gaming should be a lot smoother!
Now all I have to do is drill a few holes, get the ladder out and feed the cabling through.... It's currently running up the stairs and a health hazard waiting to strike!
Thanks again!

Re: PS3 Online Gaming Connection
Thats running perfectly, your line ADSL Sync speed is 8mb
but you never get that speed when downloading due to TCP/IP
overheads
We normally allow 15% for overheads so a speed of 6.8mb would
be expected in speedtests and your getting a little over that
So its all good!

Re: PS3 Online Gaming Connection
Hello again guys!
I finally got around to running the cables today! It was a bit of a nightmare, but finally at 11pm I had run two Ethernet cables and a coax cable (for TV link) through the living room wall, up the outside wall, through my parents bedroom then into mine!
A few problems though:
1. One of the cables isn't connecting to the PC or PS3. PS3 says that no Ethernet is plugged in.... the router isn't picking it up either so I guess I must have damaged it when pocking and prodding it through the walls.
But anyway, my real question:
2. After speed testing I've lost half a MB, and my ping seems a lot higher. Before today I would consistently get 6.9MB+, now it's around 6.5MBs. The ping would usually be between 30-60, but now they're 60-110.
Is it something I've done, or is it maybe just the network tonight?.... I can't see the difference- it's the same length of cable, just running outside and up my wall as opposed to up the stairs.
Does anyone have an idea why my stats could have gotten worse?
Cheers

Re: PS3 Online Gaming Connection
Where are you getting that speed from, The router or from a speed test.
Also with regards to the pings mmm, strange one. I would have expected it do drop slightly but not double.
Where did you get the cable. Or did you make it ?
Also have you called CST lately as your line may have gone through a regrade. In which you will find out by a text being sent to your phone.
