Re: XBOX 360 Media Streaming
Ya works fine hard wired but this means a thick ethernet cable running down the stairs, where its only a matter of time before the wife trips on it and chucks out the Xbox
.
One of the main reasons for getting the wireless adapter was to stream wirelessly, really want to get this working. Have setup firewall rules for all the ports mentioned on the xbox site, will have another go after work. At least i now know the problem lies with the router.
Cheers, Rob.

Re: XBOX 360 Media Streaming
Also you need to download the "optional" media pack from the windows marketplace for the xbox so that all the codecs are avaliable.
Check to see that your Xbox is in the same workgroup that the rest of your home network is in.
On windows media player 11 monitor the windows folders that your music and videos are in and add new ones if they normally live somewhere else on your hard drive. (this means that your files are then scanned and then remebered where they live)
When looking for media to play you do not use the media center option on the xbox you need to go into the "music" or "video" menus on the Xbox and then you have the option of going onto the home network to stream off the PC.
If all else fails scrub off the MCE information off the Xbox and try again.I'm a PC, and Windows 7 Backup saved my sanity when BitDefender imploded !!!
