Re: Max delay who do I contact?
Ok, someone picture this set up, this is the current set-up of my internet...
Filter - master socket - 5m RJ11 cable into a MONSTER POWER SUPPLY (reduces noise/interference on line) - 2m RJ11 from MONSTER POWER SUPPLY - Router
So basically, about 6m of RJ11 cable used to my router from master socket, but it is passed through a MONSTER POWER SUPPLY which lowers interference and noise.
Can someone tell me if a XTE-2005 faceplate will reduce the attenuation, which will mean I can do without the extra 6m RJ11 cable to the power pack, and rather have it filtered straight from the faceplate.
Here are my stats, any suggestions people!? Ask for uncap? Higher speeds possible? ADSL2+? MAX DELAY settings?

Looks like my attenuation has gone down by 2, and the SNR more or less has stayed the same. Wondering if faceplate will filter out noise (or as much) to save me the 6m of RJ11 cabling from filter.
Thanks All, Sean!

Re: Max delay who do I contact?
best setup is: -
socket>xte-2005 faceplate>sky supplied dsl cable>router>ethernet to PC
any variance on this will add to possible noise on the line and problems with connection...-------------------------------------------

Re: Max delay who do I contact?
Hi,
I did not know anything about max delay until I discovered these forums.
First discovered high ping during COD 4 on PC. Tried updating drivers antivirus you name it. I only started getting problems a week ago. was normally 90 now 130-160.
So heres my expercience. Phone 0870 515 515 and got through after 20 mins that was weekday 2200. Explained I had high ping straight away and wanted to go to Tier 3. The guy on the other end of the phone who sounded asian went through the troubleshooting standard Tier 1.
run - command - netstat
Checking connections, master socket you name it and said I had too many browsers open. I told him no way put me through to someone else. He would not and in the end after a fight I gave up.
Sunday 6/1/08
2nd Call
45 min wait to Tier 1. Irish guy answered I explained I need Tier 3 please put me through. He said he would have to go through the troubleshooting to give me a ticket to Tier 3. He even waited on the phone while I started COD 4 to see if I had a better ping. I said waste of time but did it anyway he was polite. No luck.
I said I still have problems ping of 80 to speedtest.net and 71 approx to ping bbc.co.uk in command prompt. He said ok ill put you to Tier 3.
15 mins wait Scottish lady answered and asked for ticket number I said I never got one I was just put through. She said ok checked my record and got it from there.
She said would you like gaming settings and I said yes please new exactly what I was talking about. She put max delay down to 8 and found some errors on my line she fixed them and reset me router.
On restart of router she said looking good at this end.
Did speedtest.net ping was down to 51 from 81
Command prompt ping bbc.co.uk was down from the 70's to 37ms
So basically my ping has halved and my dl speed is still the same.
I thought Im very happy. Left ticket open for 24 hours to see if the line will be ok as sometime they can become unstable.
After that I decided to try COD 4 again logged in and thought nice I get a ping of 70-80 (COD 4 ping is double what your normal ping should be for some reason) After 2 mins of playing the ping rose up to the 150-200 mark making it really laggy. So COD 4 for me is not sorted.
What I plan to do tonight is get my BF2142 working and check the ping on that if it is stable around the 40ms (was 77ms in BF2142 before max delay changed )then It must be something to do with the COD 4 game reinstall maybe.
Also done a disk cleanup and defrag last night which ive been told can help ping. I should have more info to update my progress tomorrow. Hopefully game related and not Broadband related and an easy fix.
