Yet another XBox Live problem.
please help.......
ot my xbox yesterday, plugged it all in, signed up to live, all hunky dory. 15 minutes into the game xbox live loses the connection.
I am using on cat5 for my pc then taking it out and putting it in the xbox by the way.
The interent still works, the xbox can tell its got a connection but when i run the LIVE test it comes up with 'console unable to negotiate a lease with your DHCP server'.
Ive tried changing the starting ip address in the DHCP of the router but it comes up with 'Not in LAN IP address subnet'???
Ive also tried putting the xbox ip address (which is different to my pc one) in teh 'static route' tab but that doesnt work either.
any help appreciated.
thanks

Re: Yet another XBox Live problem.
When you switch the cable from the pc to the xbox, switch off the router and xbox. Then power the router back up followed by the xbox and see that works. Let me know how you get on.

Re: Yet another XBox Live problem.
router should technically assign an address when the ethernet is plugged into the xbox before switching it on, should be fine, no firewalls and uPnP enabled by default with the router so no reason why it shouldn't work
It doesn't get better than this band lol

Re: Yet another XBox Live problem.
have you tried reseting to default under network on the xbox, i had a load of trouble with my new elite last week.all is ok now make sure unp is enabled in the router...im using wireless . you could try giving it a static ip in the router and under network on the xbox....

Re: Yet another XBox Live problem.
uPnP does not need to be turned on.
I got my sons Xbox connected without having to bugger up my other wireless PC`s. You could turn on uPnP just to get set up but once your online with the xbox turn uPnP back off , works fine for our set up.
BTW though I do believe that the new Sky routers uPnP work properly and having uPnP turned on will make things easier with those.

Re: Yet another XBox Live problem.
Why do you swap the ethernet cable over? Why not just have one cable for the PC & another for the 360?
UPnP on the original Sky routers (white Netgear DG834GT) can be problematic for some people... you may need to try disabling it, & then manually forward the relevant Xbox Live ports to the IP of the 360 (which would need a static IP, or an entry in the address reservation section on the router).
What actual settings have you entered into the 360?

Re: Yet another XBox Live problem.
I swap the cable over because i dont have 10 meters of cable at hand. If i did, i would.
That cant be the issue though can it? As it worked then stopped working in the space of 30 minutes?
Thats the router i have yes.
When i have entered the settings manually i have the following:
IP: 192.168.0.3
Subnet: 255.255.255.0
Gateway: 192.168.0.1
But i still get the same issue from automatic settings in the xbox.
Do you suggest turning off upnp, then creating a static IP of 192.168.0.3?
I have created a static address and address reservation and tried it that way, with no success. However upnp has always been on, would that overide any manuall settings?
Could the xbox have a fault?
