turning upnp off gives a strict profile and prevents connections to other users without the same profile...apparentlyi did try it and its correct
have you another router handy? you could extract your user/password from the sky router, at least this might help eliminate the router as the faultLast edited by nobby; 29-11-07 at 04:08 PM.

Re: Yet another XBox Live problem.
i dont have a spare router no.
i did all the static route/DMZ/addres reservation stuff and it didnt work. Are you saying that if i put all that back in again, and turn upnp off it might work?

Re: Yet another XBox Live problem.
Yeah, as I said before, it could be the UPnP (some people have problems with it enabled).
If you turn off UPnP, you need to forward the relevant XBL ports to the IP of the 360.

Re: Yet another XBox Live problem.
did all that, still no luck.
with manual settings on the xbox i get 'your gateway did not respond to the request' and with auto settings i get the 'DCHP server' error again.

Re: Yet another XBox Live problem.
Something sounds messed up with the settings in your router or xbox, if you reset them both to factory defaults and it still doesn't work then one of them is faulty. No settings need to be changed to get xbox live to work, leave eveything on 'auto' in xbox settings and UPnP enabled in router.

Re: Yet another XBox Live problem.
where is the factory reset in the router?
Could doing that affect my conenmction to the net via my pc? Does it come loaded with settings from sky?

Re: Yet another XBox Live problem.
There is a little pinhole in the back of the router, I think you have to push a paperclip or similar object into it for 10 seconds. Hopefully someone will confirm this.

Re: Yet another XBox Live problem.
i would like to also confirm that by resetting it it wont affect my ability to browse the web, without further messing about.

Re: Yet another XBox Live problem.
Yes it will be exactly the same as when you first took it out of the box and plugged it in.
